Eighty years ago today, the first advertisement for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs appeared in the Motion Picture Herald, an American film industry trade magazine. It was published nearly six months before the movie would premiere at the Cathay Circle Theatre.
The pale green/powder blue advertisement has raised silver color lettering. A similar ad was also seen in a 1937 Box Office magazine.
The Motion Picture Herald also carried ads and write-ups for numerous other movies and celebrities of the day.
A full page ad for Disney Silly Symphonies was also included.
The publication contains 138 pages and measures 12.25" x 9.25".
