Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs begins and ends with a white storybook displayed against folds of blue satin. Small carved portraits of the dwarfs create a decorative edging on the cover, liberally gilded to mimic a heavy, early European leather-bound tome.

The intricate detailing of this dimensional prop, on screen for a matter of seconds, is typical of the detail lavished on this landmark motion picture. Each page is adorned with illustrative elements and gothic lettering in the style of medieval illuminated manuscripts.

For Sleeping Beauty, a bejeweled, golden storybook opens to transport audiences into a world of enchantment. Intricate borders, heraldic designs and dazzling central imagery were painted by Eyvind Earle and his team, lending the film story's transitions an air of historic pronouncement.

The original hand-crafted film props, which now reside in The Walt Disney Archives, were painstakingly studied to ensure accurate re-creation, from their glittering covers to the painted pages inside.

  3. Connie and Cyber...They certainly have created some elegant and tasteful pieces. I haven't yet had the pleasure of owning any of their work, but the lamp and snow globe are just two of several that are high on my "to get" list.
