1938 Two-Color Snow White Tumblers by Libbey Glass Co.

Snow White dairy glasses were extremely popular during the film's initial general release in 1938. (See earlier posts on the first series of glasses and milk bottles.)

A two-color set was produced for sale in stores. Manufactured by Libbey Glass Company of Toledo, Ohio under license with the Disney Company. The eight individual lithographed glasses stand 4.625" tall and the box measures approximately 10" X 11" X 3". The box was meant for store display and features a lid with a large "die-cut" portrait of Snow White surrounded by the dwarfs.

These are certainly a rare gem of a find!

  2. I see this is a few years old, but any idea what this set is worth? I can't really find any information aside from this blog, on them. I don't have the box but I do have all the glasses and they're in pretty nice condition. A few have light spot fading but pretty minor, no scratches. I found an auction from 2006 where they sold for a 1,000 but they were mint in box and that was several years ago when they economy was better! Any help would be appreiciated!

    1. The box (in mint condition) is what made that $1000 set so valuable.

The two-color glasses are less common than the single color versions, and thus, they're worth more to the collector. We're not appraisers here, but if you have the complete set of two-color glasses, you should be able to get a good price for them.

We've seen the single-color set go for between $150 and $200. Good luck to you.

  3. Thank you for the information! Yes, I imagine there aren't many boxes still around. Rightfully so it would add a tidy sum to the lot. I'm still on fence, think I'll hold on to mine for now. Nice to know this kind of history is still appreciated! Thanks again!
