E. Sepheriades Snow White Postcards

From the late 1930s until 1945, E. Séphériadès of Paris produced a variety of postcards featuring the early Disney characters. The 12-card Snow White series below is one of these sets. All the cards measure approximately 3.5" x 5.5" (9 x 14 cm) and are printed on deckled edged postcard quality paper. Each contains the copyright statement "Par autorisation: WALT DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE, S.A."

The above collection has French captions, but a Dutch set has also been seen. (Amsterdam set card No. 3 pictured here.)

Around 1945, the printing of most of these Disney postcards was taken over by Superluxe of Paris. They would produce a larger 25-card Snow White collection (see earlier Superluxe Archive entry). It incorporated all of the illustrations seen in the 12-card set plus more. For this reason, the E. Séphériadès card numbers do not necessarily match those from Superluxe. For example, card no. 9 from the first series became no.15 in the set of 25.

Séphériadès would, however, reappeared in the 1950s to 60s and resumed production under the slightly altered name of E.S. Séphériadès.

In addition, a German set of 24 postcards was published by Erdal-Fabrik, Philipp Mühlen & Co., circa 1950. It added images of the Queen and Witch, plus the Prince (at Snow White's bier). It also included a collector's book to paste the cards into.
