1938 Snow White Book, Whitman No. 925

Whitman published this Snow White book (no. 925) in 1938. Contains 16 illustrated pages, including the front and back covers. Measures 9.5" x 13". Some printings of the book were done on "LINEN LIKE" paper, as noted in the lower corner of the cover. Others were produced on more stiff-like paper.

The book tells movie tale in brief and begins with an illustration of the Prince climbing the courtyard wall and Snow White washing the steps, right before the two meet for the first time.

We learn of the Evil Queen's plan to have her Huntsman kill the little princess, and of his inability to carry out the orders.

The Dwarfs all have red noses.

Snow White finds the cottage. We see illustrations of her climbing the stairs, sweeping the floor, making a pie, and singing with the Dwarfs next to the fireplace.

In the story, we read that the Queen "disguised herself", but there are no drawings of her as the Old Hag. After she has delivered the poison apple, the last we hear of her is in this line..."As the witch, muttering maledictions, hurried away, some animals and birds pursued her." There's no mention of the Dwarfs' pursuit or her falling from the cliff to her death.

On the final page, we see the happy couple waving goodbye as the last line reads, "And when Snow White and the prince arrived at his palace, they were married and lived happily ever after."

The back cover image is the same as that on the last inside page.
