Dean's Cut-Out 'Snow White' Book

Dean & Sons Ltd of London published a Snow White cut-out book circa 1938. Includes the standard copyright disclaimer, "By Permission of Walt Disney-Mickey Mouse." Measures 9.5" x 13.5".

The book opens up to reveal a "film set" view of the forest and cottage on the inside covers. There are two separate sheets of cut-out figures for you to create your own model.

The forest and cottage scenes on inside covers.

Instruction on back of book.

Close-up of the complete model.

These sheets are completely uncut, a rare find today.

Another Dean's Cut-Out Book was published in 1938 with the title, The House of the Seven Dwarfs. We'll have a look at it in a future Archive entry.

  1. What a magnificent find I have the cover/panorama but no cutouts

  2. I think finding the cutouts still intact is rather rare for this book. I saw this one on ebay, but the seller was asking a bit more than I wanted to pay.

I have the Snow White Shooting Game, which I think is fabulously wrong! It's the earlier version in which you can shoot four of the dwarfs or Snow-White... I believe this was later changed so you could only shoot the dwarfs... but even still... Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are suppose to be nice, why would you want to shoot them? Did they make a Bambi shooting game?... it's just wrong... which makes it so much fun to have.

    1. Life today is a bit different compared to back in 1938. Social norms have certainly changed.
