Early Concept Drawings - Snow White

Rare storyboard concept art of Snow White and her forest animals. Graphite with blue highlights.  Dates from circa 1936. Originally sold as part of the Courvoisier Galleries art program, hence the embossed and stamped "Walt Disney Productions" imprint.

  1. There is a current movie, "Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story", which posits that Lamarr was the artists' inspiration for Snow White. Have you seen that reference anywhere? All I could find was that Lamarr attended the film's premiere, but the Disney studio did supply a brief "Snow White" clip for "Bombshell". It seems the only Lamarr movie the artists could have seen by the mid 30s was the notorious "Ekstase"!

    1. Hi Stefano, I never heard this Lamarr reference before. Very interesting. It's been well documented that Walt made suggestions to his animators about Janet Gaynor and Mary Pickford. When Disney hired Don Graham to teach the animators, Graham instructed them to watch movies--lots of movies--to learn how the body moves. So I'm sure they did see Hedy Lamarr on the big screen. Now I want to see "Bombshell". :)
