Bonus: Here's the 1939 Disney Studio Christmas card. The storybook-style continues with characters from Pinocchio. Most of the artists whose signatures are printed on the inside page also worked on Snow White. It's just amazing how consistent the Disney quality of effort was, even on something like this.

Two of my favourite Disney Studio Christmas cards! Festive greetings to you and yours on this special day and thanks for another year of snow! :)
ReplyDeleteBrian, Merry Christmas to both you and David. May your new year be as jolly as a Baggins' birthday in Hobbiton! And good news--the forecast continues to call for more "Snow" in the months to come. :)
DeleteMerry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so pretty; thank you for sharing them and adding that extra touch to the holiday!
Happy Holidays to you too Sheryl. Glad to see the latest from your wonderful Deer Me comic strip.
DeleteSpeaking of the 1937 card, most collectors don't know there was an additional insert. View it here on my blog: http://vintagedisneymemorabilia.blogspot.ca/2008/12/1937-walt-disney-christmas-card.html
ReplyDeleteHope you have a very Merry Christmas Robert. I love what you do with your blog! Cheers! David
Thanks for the link David!
DeleteThose studio Christmas cards are something I would love to collect, but they are very pricey. I only have the 1955 card... they are all so beautifully illustrated.
ReplyDeleteThey really did do a nice job on them. Not your ordinary Hallmark version.
DeleteHi A. Kehoe, Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, other than what's posted here in the blog post, I don't have any more info on it. It's is a collector's item and they have appeared on ebay before, though I don't recall what the asking price was. A couple of sites to check out that may provide more info is Hakes and Heritage Auctions. Both deal in this exact kind of item and probably have even sold this very card before at auction. You might be able to see what it went for. Good luck.
