The Snow White story narrated by Mary D'Arcy was first released on audio cassette in 1992. It was part of the "Read-Along" series and included a 24-page book. The recording would be reissued several more times in different formats, including as a mp3 download. It was available online in 2004 as a "storyette", part of the digital Storyteller Series.
It's hard to imagine today, yet it really wasn't that long ago when people still listened to audio cassettes. The technology was dying and on its way out, but the small children's niche continued to hang on for a time. The "Read-Along" series was designed to build vocabulary and encourage independent reading in youngsters.

The story was also issued on compact disc with a bonus cassette tape. Catalog no. 60496-2. The booklet was expanded to 32 pages. A couple slightly different packaging versions were produced.

Copyrighted 2009, the "Songs and Story" audio series featured story versions of classic Disney films. The CD (or mp3 download) included voice actors and sound effects. A simpler style of narration and album artwork were employed for a younger audience. The disc was sold between $5-7; downloads were a bit less.
