Bottle Caps from El Salvador

Circa 1970s, a series of Disney-themed bottle caps was issued in El Salvador by a soda brand named Embotelladora Tropical S.A.. They are quite similar to the Pepsi caps released in Mexico (seen in an earlier post), although the numbering system is different and the total number may have been less.

These are the caps we've found so far. If the collection is indeed like those issued in Mexico, then there would also be one for the Witch (Bruja), Sneezy (Estornudo), and Bashful (Tímido) as well as a host of other Disney characters.

Pepsi Bottle Caps from Argentina

In the mid 1970s, a series of Pepsi bottle caps were produced in Argentina that featured Disney characters, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The collection consisted of 36 caps: 35 characters and one black & white Pepsi logo.

Complete cap collection image and additional info via chapitero.

Each is numbered.

The caps were designed to be used as pieces in a bingo or lottery game. Several different numbered "loteria" cards were available.

A larger collection of 70 Disney bottle caps was issued in Uruguay and is sometimes confused with this series from Argentina.

1969 "Discover Disneyland" Coke Bottle Caps

In 1969, Disneyland and Coca-Cola teamed up for the Discover Disneyland sweepstakes. Participants collected specially marked coke bottle caps. An illustration of Sleeping Beauty's castle was displayed on the top of the cap along with the Coke logo (although some variants have been found without the castle). The underside featured a character or attraction that you would see at the park. Snow White and Dopey were paired together.

The collected bottle caps (or plastic liners) were to be affixed to a special game sheet--a map of Disneyland with 35 blank circles. There were different level prizes awarded dependent upon the number of completed sheets submitted. The top prize for five sheets included a free adult admission to the theme park and a ticket ride book!

One facebook individual shares his memories as a kid, running all over town searching for the caps in order to win free tickets to Disneyland: read here.

1977 Coca-Cola Bottle Caps from Brazil

A series of Disney character Coke bottle caps were issued in Brazil in 1977.  In small print along the inside rim is the year and "© Walt Disney Productions". Snow White and the dwarfs were included in the collection with their names printed in Portuguese. Each is numbered.

Branca De Neve is #29.

Atchim (Sneezy) #22.

Soneca (Sleepy) #23

Dengoso (Bashful) #25

These particular caps come from collector Brian Main, who says his set is not yet complete but that there are at least 72 in the series, based upon the highest number he has. A few other examples include Urtigao #21, who was popular in Brazil and found in Donald Duck comics; Barrica (Mr. Smee) #57 from Peter Pan; and Mickey #60.

We're still missing four of the dwarfs in this collection. If anyone has pics they'd like to share, we'll be happy to add them and give you credit.
