Canadian "Musical Notes" Dairy Glasses

The number of Snow White dairy premiums that were produced in 1938 was extension. See an earlier Archive entry for loads of examples. Among them was a series of eight tumblers decorated with character graphics and musical notes. The set that was produced for distribution in the US was seen in another earlier post.

In Canada, a similar collection of glasses with musical notes was issued for distribution by Canadian dairy producers. The character illustrations are identical to the US versions, but other details differ. The actual "notes" themselves have a different design. Plus the four-line verses describing the characters are missing. Instead, each glass now included a forest animal running around the base. Two sizes have been found: 4.75" and 4.625".

Blanca Nieves Dairy Pitcher

A Snow White heavy glass pitcher from 1938. Blue and white character graphics, similar to others seen in an earlier post. Measures approximately 9.5" tall and weighs over 2 lbs. Produced for the Disney dairy promotional campaign. However, this pitcher does differs slightly with its ribbed spout.

In addition, it features Spanish text that reads, "Obsequio del Refresco Waterva" (A Gift of Waterva Refreshment). Snow White is Blanca Nieves. The dwarfs are labeled with their English names (as they were in the original 1938 Spanish-language version). Copyright mark: "© W.D." This was probably a premium issued for release in Mexico and other Latin American countries.

1938 Seven Dwarfs "Globe Trotter" Window Signs

Snow White-themed paper signs meant for use as store window displays. Three unused examples: Dopey, Doc, and Grumpy (who looks uncharacteristically friendly in this illustration but that's definitely his nose). Each is marked, "© 1938 Walt Disney Enterprises". Measure 10.5" x 20.5".

According to Heritage Auctions, the signs may have been designed to promote the Mickey Mouse Globe Trotters bread and milk ad campaign. Sponsored by local bakeries and dairy producers, the promotion encouraged kids to join the Globe Trotter club. Members received a game board map to attach Disney bread/dairy cards to. They'd also get a pin-back button printed with the name of the local sponsor.

Dixies Ice Cream Snow White Lids

Disney granted a license in 1938 to the Dixie Ice Cream Company of Lexington, Kentucky to use Snow White on the lids of their Velvet Brand Arctic Ice Cream. The face of the lid shows an illustration of Snow White with her forest animal friends. In addition to the Disney value, the lids were collectible because the underside included images of movie stars and sports figures of the day.
