2009 Blanche Neige Blu-ray Promotion in Paris
During the 2009 French Blu-ray release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, an advertising campaign was launched involving Parisian bus stops.
A light-hearted marketing plan was devised by the outdoor advertising company JCDecaux and e-marketer Posterscope. Seven interactive posters--one for each dwarf--were placed at different bus stops in Paris. Commuters were asked to vote for their favorite by pushing a button on the sign. A counter on the poster reflected the votes in real time. The tallies for all seven were said to have been accumulated on a blog dedicated to the operation during the campaign.
The posters were up for only a short time, October 7-13, 2009. These were the seven chosen bus stops.
For those who couldn't make it to any of the bus stops, the Disney Blu-ray website offered another way to cast a vote for a favorite dwarf.
Special thanks to François Monferran for letting us know about this.

"Good Story" Advertisement from Brazil
A clever ad was produced in 2011 for Corre Cutia Bookstore in Brazil. In the lower right corner, the tagline reads, Nobody Resists a Good Story. In the foreground we see the Old Witch in the cottage absorbed in reading a book. She's about to absentmindedly take a bite from the poison apple as the Magic Mirror watches from the wall behind her. Off in the distance, we Snow White and the Dwarfs safe and sound.

Snow White Anti-Drug Billboard in Taiwan
A billboard ad for an anti-drug campaign was seen in 2006 in Chungho City, Taiwan. Not a Disney-licensed endeavor, though the Snow White illustration clearly impersonates the proprietary princess. The dwarfs and witch, not so much.

Brazilian Journal Advertisement
With the tag line: "Know the two sides of the story," the Brazilian Novo Jornal used fairytale characters in non-traditional ways to promote their publication in an October 2010 advertising campaign. The result was interesting but a bit off color. Snow White, in her very distinctive Disney dress, shows a side of herself that we don't normally see...

Pizzetta Advertisement and the Missing Dwarf
Think twice before you take the last slice. An unusual Pizzetta ad campaign from South Africa featuring Snow White and the Six Dwarfs. Apparently, the seventh dwarf took "the last slice" and he's no more. Did one of the other dwarfs bump him off because the pizza was gone? It's difficult to say.

Hansel Sandwiches TV Advertisement
Over the last several years, a series of interesting commercials have been produced for Rebisco, the Republic Biscuit Corporation located in the Philippines. The TV spots use familiar fairytale characters to promote their Hansel Sandwiches (cookies).
A Snow White piece was produced in 2008. The Witch visits the princess at the Dwarfs' cottage. Rather than biting into the poison apple, though, Snow is drawn back into the cottage by the aroma of a Hansel cookie. The production combines live action with animation. For obvious legal reasons, the dwarfs could not be drawn to resemble the Disney characters. Yet, the poison apple, the cottage, and forest glen do have a strong Disney-esque feel to them.

Director : Raul Jorolan
Producer/Writer : Gilbert Buguis
Cinematography : Monchie Redoble
Editor : Jojo Medalla
Production Design : Emery Villanueva
Music/Score : Noisy Neighbors
Animation : Holy Cow Animation

More Annie Leibovitz Photos
Back in 2007-2008, photographer Annie Leibovitz was engaged by the Disney Company to shoot celebrities as traditional Disney characters for the Dream Portrait Series of advertisements. Yesterday the Disney Parks blog announced the addition of several new ads for 2011 featuring more of Leibovitz's unique photos.
One of the new images includes Olivia Wilde as Snow White's Evil Queen with Alec Baldwin as the Magic Mirror. The caption reads,"Where magic speaks, even when you’re not the fairest of them all."
Two more photos feature Penelope Cruz as Belle and Jeff Bridges as the prince from Beauty and the Beast and Queen Latifah as Ursula from The Little Mermaid.
Additional images from the series will be included as special inserts in the April issues of O – The Oprah Magazine, People En Español, Real Simple, Essence, and InStyle as well as the March 28 issue of People.
