Hansel Sandwiches TV Advertisement

Over the last several years, a series of interesting commercials have been produced for Rebisco, the Republic Biscuit Corporation located in the Philippines. The TV spots use familiar fairytale characters to promote their Hansel Sandwiches (cookies).

A Snow White piece was produced in 2008. The Witch visits the princess at the Dwarfs' cottage. Rather than biting into the poison apple, though, Snow is drawn back into the cottage by the aroma of a Hansel cookie. The production combines live action with animation. For obvious legal reasons, the dwarfs could not be drawn to resemble the Disney characters. Yet, the poison apple, the cottage, and forest glen do have a strong Disney-esque feel to them.

The character illustration from this Argentinian one sheet matches the style found in the North American re-issue posters from both 1958 and 1967. Yet the background color and layout are distinct to the '58 three-sheet artwork rather than the '67 (see side-by-side comparison below).

2001 Disneyland "Snow White Woodland Friends " Pin Set

Disneyland Resort has run many "Gift With Purchase" pin promotions over the years, and back in the later half of 2001, it was Snow White's turn. For every purchase of $15 or more on pins, park guests would receive a special GWP Snow White pin. A new one would be given out on the first Sunday of every month from July to December.

The Snow White collection consisted of six pins in all and included the princess and five forest animals. The set also came with an illustrated Dwarf's Cottage background card that complimented the series and could be used to displayed the pins.

The pins themselves are quite petite. Snow White's the largest at approximately 1 3/8" in height. The Bluebird and Chipmunk are the smallest measuring just over a 1/2" at their longest stretch. Each is back-stamped with "© DISNEY CHINA".

I visited the park in late December 2001 and was able to trade for the pins--all of which could be found on cast members' lanyards. The pins were open edition but are now long retired.
