1939 Snjeguljica Announcement Postcard from Yugoslavia

A Snow White postcard from former Yugoslavia. Vintage Gustaf Tenggren artwork is featured on the front along with the Croatian text, "Snjeguljica i Sedam patuljaka".

On the opposite side is an announcement for the March 23-27, 1939 premiere screenings in Čakovečki, a city located in what is now northern Croatia. The film was distributed throughout Yugoslavia by Avala Film. The postmark on the card appears to be from the 14th of March, 1939.

Vintage Tin Tray

A round metal tray was listed several months ago on ebay. It featured an illustration of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, although not one that we're typically used to seeing. The tray has no copyright imprint or other identifying markings. It's obvious this illustration is supposed to be of the Disney dwarfs, albeit in a very stylized form. Snow, however, looks nothing like her former self. Nonetheless, it is a fascinating piece.

The seller believed the tray had a European origin, making an educated guess that it was from the former Yugoslavia, though he couldn't be sure.

Yugoslav Snow White Posters

A rare movie poster from former Yugoslavia, this one dates from the late 1940s. The Serbian Cyrillic script variant reads Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Format is approximately 19" x 27" (48 x 69cm.), a standard size for Yugoslav posters.

Another poster, a folded half sheet from circa 1973. Measures 20" x 27.5". Walt Disney Productions. "Snežana" is a Slavic female name meaning "snow woman"--the connotation being similar to Snow White.
