Leeds Snow White Ceramic Banks

A Snow White figural coin bank was manufactured by Leeds China Co. of Chicago, circa 1949. Glazed ceramic. Measures 6.5" tall. A slot along the side allows for coin deposits. No "removal" opening on the bottom, though.

A similar non-bank figurine was produced too. It's listed in Hake's Official Price Guide To Disney Collectibles (p.853).

There was also a Dopey bank.

In addition to the banks, Leeds China Co. also manufactured similar-looking Snow White and Dopey ceramic planters.

  1. I've always thought that these "sacrificial" banks with no trap at the bottom are weird. Are you really supposed to smash the thing with a hammer when it's full??

    1. I remember as a kid having a piggy bank which caused the same dilemma. I tried to retrieve the coins through the slot when needed, but in the end, it met its demise with a smash.

  2. I had one like that too, I found that a knife helped the coins fall out, though it was a huge pain in the a**!
