Printed in wartime England and published by Brownlee Nineteen-Forty-Two, this set of 12 Snow White primer cards is a rare find. Each of the color prints is numbered and tells a portion of the storyline from the film. Cards measure approximately 8.7" x 5.6" (22 x 14.2cm). Each is issued in its own individual envelope.
No. 1 Snow White - The Plot...
A portion of the sale of the cards was used to raise funds for the war effort. On the back of each envelope, the text reads..."Each Disney Primer pays 6d tax towards the cost of the war."
Note that there were also Primer cards for Pinocchio and The Three Pigs.
No. 2 The Cavalier - The Romance...
No. 3 The House in the Forest - The Flight...
No. 4 The Queen - In the Forest...
No.5 Sneezy - In the Forest...
No.6 Doc - The Seven Dwarfs...
No.7 Grumpy - The Scare...
No.8 Happy - Snow White meets the Dwarfs...
No.9 Bashful - The Celebration...
No.10 The Witch...
No.11 Sleepy - The Tragedy...
No.12 Dopey - The Antidote...
These images first appeared as color plates in Walt Disney's Sketch Book of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, published in 1938 by William Collins & Sons, London.
