1962 Blanch Neige 45 rpm record (Lucie Dolène)

1962 - Actress/singer Lucie Dolène was the voice of Snow White in the 1962 French re-dub of the Disney film. It's her version that was used in the 1994 VHS and LaserDisc home video release in France. The 45rpm below, however, does not contain any tracks from the official soundtrack. Instead, we have new recordings made by Lucie at that time, accompanied by "Caravelli and His Magic Violins". The cover art is a reproduction of the poster from the 1962 theatrical release. President record label. No. PRC. 316.

Face 1:
  • Un Sourire En Chantant (With a Smile and a Song)
  • Un Chant

Face 2:
  • Un Jour Mon Prince Viendra
  • Je Souhaite (I'm Wishing)

It's interesting to note that the Lucie Dolène 1962 version of the Snow White soundtrack is no longer available due to legal issues between her and Disney. As a result, Disney re-dubbed the film in 2001 using the talents of Valérie Siclay (speaking voice) and Rachel Pignot (singing voice). It is the official soundtrack found on French DVDs and Blu-rays today.

  1. During the vocalization parts on Lucie Dolène's version does it sound like they remixed Adriana Caselotti's vocals to anyone else? (Like the part at 0:03)

    1. When I first heard it, I immediately thought that sounds like Adriana too.

    2. No, I can guarantee that those vocalizations are by Lucie Dolène who was (is) a terrific singer.
In spite of what has been done to the French soundtrack (And Rachel Pignot does some great singing) Lucie will remain the BEST French Snow White!

  3. I like the low-budget approach to the first single's cover... just line up a group of commercially available toys and take a picture of them!

    1. Right on! Although today, those toys are probably worth more than the record. :)
