The book contains two tales about our protagonist, Bashful. In the first, he befriends Papa and Mamma deer and helps them find their baby fawn before the huntsmen from the castle do. The rest of Dwarfs help too.
In the second story, Bashful has a secret. He heads out early every morning before breakfast and the Dwarfs don't know why. So they devise a plane to follow him and find out.
