This set of photographs on animation paper date from the production of
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, circa 1936. They gives a rare look behind the making of the motion picture. To assist the Disney animators with their drawings, a live-action model plays the role of the Huntsman. The photos include sequence/frame numbers written in pencil.
Red pencil drawing of same shot.
The Huntsman begs forgiveness from a surrogate Snow White, played by a male stand-in with a makeshift skirt.
More sketches of the Huntsman drawn from the live-action source.
See ... when some claim that the Disney Studio hardly ever employed women, that might be another proof (;-) ) when a man "in drag" protrays Snow White! Please, don't show this to Miss Meryl Streep! ;-)
ReplyDeleteProbably was Marge Belcher's day off. ;)
